Default Sand sissys

any other sand sissy's around?

I do 4wheel a good deal on trails, but my fishing brings me to the beach quite a bit.

I was wondering what kind of tires people were using in the soft sand, Martha's Vineyard has super soft stuff, like sugar.. Gotta drop the psi to 12-15 MAX, or else you are sol..

Thinking these for a good all around tire

Never been to MV, so I can't compare and contrast the sand types, but I've had no issues with the BFG M\T's here in NC. 12-15 PSI. I was kinda worried the first time, as the tread doesn't seem to lend itself to flotation, but it did just fine.

I see a lot of people are running the BFG M\T's, just wasn't sure how they handled the sand..

I've got the stock Goodyear Wranglers on my Jeep on Carolina Beach and I have no issues. My ex has BFG AT's on his and they worked great too. The sand isn't sugar soft tho.

Never had any problems with the stock tires on my Rubi.

On Crystal Beach, or when there used to be a Crystal Beach to drive on....certain time of the year were better than others. Winter was great because all the rain packed the sand down. Memorial Day to Labor Day was a bear because of the dry conditions. The sand would get like playground sand, but not real powdery.

Most of the time did not even need 4X4, just turned ESP off and kept momentum up and no sharp turns and you were okay.

I've always ran BFG AT's for the sand here on Long Island and air down to about 15PSI. I ran BFG M/T's on my pickup truck for a little while but the ATs felt like they had more control and better tracking at higher speeds on the sand.

Ocean shores here in WA ran stockers for rubi's and now my X-terrains, both fine.

I had x-terrains on my Diesel Ram 2500.

Great tires for the beach. They moved you forward instead of digging holes...

I have ran the BFG A/T's with good success in sand and they air down well. I didn't like them in the mud so I switched to a claw which airs down a whole lot better and IMHO does real well in sand as long as your not trying to dig it. Because they will dig if you nail it. As long as your not framed out though it will climb right out.
