Default Double check installed lifts!!

I had a FT 3" installed a few months back and I am over all very satisfied with the lift. I had it installed because a local company put it in for just over the cost of what I could order it for. I had to do some adjustments on the control arms to get the angles correct and the ride was good. I noticed that my trac bars needed to be adjusted because of the amount of tire visiable from one side to the other, but have been busy and put this off as mine is not a dailey driver. A few days ago I adjusted the front , with the help of the write up, with no problems. When I got the rear something diffently didnot look right. I could see where the trac bar was making contact with the spring on the passenger side. Damn thing was in backwards. I flipped it and adjusted it. Recentered my steering wheel which was off about a quarter turn and took it for a ride, wow I had forgotten how well it handeled on the road and it pretty much cleared up my traction controll issues, exept on onramps and off ramps.. moral to the story if you get a lift installed print some picks from a write up or from this forum and double check EVERYTHING.

Great advice. Personally I always try to install stuff myself because even though a shop may have more know-how, they simply wont' care about how its installed as much as I do!

Very true. I did have a shop do mine for several reasons including time, general know-how, and access to necessary tools/equipment. For those of us that go that route we need to take our Jeep as our own responsiblity and check things out after the shop does the work.

Here are the problems I found:
  • rear sway bar link ends on driver's side were not parallel -- caused some clanking
  • rear upper control arm bolt was not tight
The shops should catch this type of thing, but we all know how it is. They're checking things (and I watched them check things), but there's so much to do and pressure to move on to the next paying job. I'm not excusing sloppiness. I just understand that it can happen and I check my Jeep accordingly -- to the best of my ability.
