Smile Proud new jeep guy .... looiking for assistance

My wife and I aquired a 2008 rubicon 4dr wrangler, it will be her primary vehicle (at least till i get her a different car ... lol) Anyhow, Looking at making a few upgrades that will help with the MPG.

What would be the best way to start and most cost effective?

I've owned a couple jeeps before and was a bit of a purist in the fact that it took a while for me to give the 4 door wrangler a fair shake .... my bad

Open to sugestions ....

Thx ...

You've seen the light! Welcome. It seems that everything I have done has made the mpg go the opposite direction. I am sorry I can't be of any help!

i have a 4dr rubi as well with 35's. i am averaging 11-12 mpg around town. If do do a search you will find a wide range of mpgs that people are getting. you will also finds that no mod makes a huge difference. small gains can be seen but mostly not cost effective. Best thing to do is just be easy on the gas pedal or just be happy your driving a jeep and forget about gas mileage. congrats on the new gas guzzler. j/k i love my jeep.

The only thing that I have found to help with the mileage is not having a lead foot off the line.

If it's a manual start off slow and staedy and skip some gears like 2nd to 4th then to 6th......that's what we do and it helps a little but not much. When out on the highways keep it in 6th gear and the tach at or below 2000 rpm...good luck

Default Intake ?

I understand that it is a jeep and MPG is secondary but, any little tends to add up. Since its my wifes primary vehicle, lifts or mods on suspension are prety much ruled out (she's only 5'2 and stock is about as high a vehicle as she feels comfortable driving - sold the last jeep because of this, only had 33 on it).

But i was wondering if a cool intake would help? Been looking at the K&n or the airraid ... used the K&N on my former but this being a newer model, not a lot data out into which one provides a better option ... price wise they are only about $40 difference between the kits (K&N a bit higher - as usual) ...

On a side note: My OD off button stoped working ... is this common? or just bad luck ... Will take it in next week.

Thx ...
