35" Tires on Stock Rims???
I'd like to put 35" tires on my 17"x7.5" Rubicon stock rims... but have seen some articles on how 35s are too wide to fit the 7.5"... does anyone have any info on proper tire fit or know of any 35s that will fit the stock rims??? I live overseas, so my options are limited... probably order from Quadratec.

Take a look at the tire spec sheets that the manufacturers put out. They will list a range of reccomended rim widths.
Also be aware that wide tires on stock rims will probably require spacers to avoid rubbing.

Quadratec has a buy 3 get 1 free sale on Pro Comps... I see that the Pro Comp recommends a minimum of 8" wide rims for the 35" X-Terrains, Xtreme M/Ts, and M/Ts... the stock rims are 7.5" wide... how risky is the combo???
Well, the 35" diameter has nothing to do with any of what's mentioned.

The spec you REALLY need is the SECTION WIDTH of the tire.
A tire that is 35" in diameter can have MANY widths....and, for off road purposes, the 7.5" rims can handle up to ~ a 13.5" section width tire.
A wider rim will improve the STREET performance of the set-up, IF the tire is that wide...by making the sidewalls less flexible.
You WANT flexy sidewalls off road, on road, its more squirrelly.
In a 17" rim, they make a lot of section widths, but, the standard section width for jeeps has been 12.5" for ever.
At about 285 mm (~ 11.5") most JK's will have inboard tire rub with the stock backspacing. The stock BS is 6.25". The less BS, the further the tires stick OUT, and the more clearance room you have....so 4.75" of BS gives 1.5" MORE ROOM than a 6.25" BS rim, etc.
A 12.5" section width tire (~ 305 - 315 mm depending upon the tire...) will require less BS to clear, with most people getting 4.75 to 5" of BS to clear them.
Wheel spacers, typically 1.5", reduce the stock BS to 4.75", allowing you to keep the stock rims, an extremely popular solution...and spacers are WAY cheaper to ship than rims, etc.
Without spacers or new rims with less BS, you could get 35" diameter tires in the 11.5"/285 mm range....but that is more of a unicorn hunt.
In all likelihood, you want a 35x12.5/17 tire, which in metric is ~ 315/70/17...
...and that means you need a set of 1.5" rim spacers, or, new rims with ~ 4.5 - 5" of BS, etc.

Here's a pic of my 35's on the stock Rubicon wheels.
As said here with 1.5" spacers.

It works just fine.
The other thing to consider is the distance between the rock rail and the thread of the tire, not often mentioned as an issue but still needs attention...... again this depending on your lift.

I have Spydertracks 1.5" spacers and purchased the TeraFlex 2 1/2" budget boost with shock adapters (until I can afford a long arm... next year). Took off the Rubicon Rail and added the Rugged Ridge RRC Side Armor... so the rail shouldn't be an issue.
Great advice Teej and thanks for the pic Hefty!
Tire pressure advice for running the 35 on the stock rim???

Get the tires first, then we figure out how much air to put in them.
