what would it take to turn a 2whl dr into a 4whl dr
I am wanting to buy a new jk but I want to choose my own axles, transfer case, lockers, and swaybar disconnects along with a 6" complete suspension lift. Is there more to take into account than these componants? There is a $2,000 difference between the purchase price of the two. This would just about pay for the atlas transfer case, and I would be changing the axles out anyway. Any thoughts on this would be great as I am checking into all of this myself.

How about all the electronic gadgetry that lets the CPU know that you HAVE 4WD?
I would venture a guess that as an extension of that, if you are going to spring for all that hardware plus the price of a new factory rig, $2k would be a pretty paltry amount to worry about.

Yeah, OUCH.
Back to the original question, and your stated intent to select your own axles, t-case, etc.: just buy an "X' 4x4 model with whatever interior/"luxury" (
) options you want, and then go to town buying up replacement parts... wait a few years, so that there'll be a decent selection of stuff available, all time-tested and not at the initial "we're the only game in town so we can bend you over" prices... my $.02

Not to mention i'm sure you could sell the axles to someone else who either wants a spare, needs one due to an accident or something, or maybe theres a TJ out there that wants new wider JK axles... especially if you get your JK with Dana 44's they'd prolly sell real quick. good luck whichever route you go
