Default 3.5in lift..now a clunking noise

i put a skyjacker 3.5in lift on my jeep. the lift included shocks, springs, track bar relocation bracket, track bar support bracket, and steering stabilizer.

the noise i am having is in the rear. when i hit bumps, not all bumps, usually smaller bumps that have a sharp impact, i have a clunking sound in the rear end. to me, it sounds like metal on metal. have double checked everything that i loosened when i was installing the lift, and everything is tight.

any ideas?

Did you torque your trackbar to 125 ftlbs? Also , re-check your upper shock mount bolts , one of them could be loose and cause your shock mount to bang the tub, that has happened to me.

Also, if I were you I'd seriously think about getting adj trackbars and ditch the trkbar brackets, alot of people have had probs with them ripping the stock mount off, even with the reinforcement bracket.

Do you have tools and things clunking around in your storage/trap door? When you install taller or stiffer coils, the ride is a little bit harder and you will notice noises you did not hear before the lift. Especially when going over railroad tracks or harsh bumps.

Check to make sure your bump stop extensions are not hitting your rear trackbar, that was causing my bump since I had them mounted backwards and it was contacting the track bar when hitting bumps.

x2 on the stuff in the storage tub. Make sure the Jack & tire iron are secure. I can't tell you how many times that little thing has been the culprit.

Taigate secure? sometimes that can rattle. If it is reproducable at a certain point on the road, try it with the spare off and see if it makes a difference.

Is the spare fully seated and lugs tight? One of the guys i work with had a loose spare from the dealer, it drove him nuts trying to figure out what it was. (might as well check the carrier bolts too)

x1000 on getting an adjustable rear bar.

will check the shock mounts. also, the bump stop extensions. the carpet is out and nothing is in the tub. no spare tire right now, either...

found it! parking break cable. certain bumps cause it to slap into the exhaust and then the tub.
