Default Reasons not to go with a shorty bumper?

I really like the price, looks, and clearance that come along with the shorty bumper but, I'm worried that with all of the road miles that I do a full width will work better. Are there any reasons that I should go with the full width bumper as opposed to a shorty?

It really depends on what type of terrain you plan to go over. A shorty will dominate in the rocks, but if you smack your fender area on a tree you will wish you had a full width. The way I see it is if you do not plan on going over some big rocks and want the safari look go for the full width.... Otherwise I would encourage you to gain the clearance of a shorty!!!

Ditto... I want a full length bumper for protection on the woodland trails.

I don't know, if it came dn to a choice of ripping off my replaceable plastic fender or folding back a $1200. bumper I'd sacrifice my fender.

Well, if you buy one of the 1200 dollar bumpers, it isn't going to fold back or get damaged beyond some scratches, that's for sure. I've seen bumpers (ARB specifically) take a deer hit at 55 MPH, and the only damage was a cracked turn signal on the bumper.....

Wish I could find that story with the pics right now....It was an impact at the front corner of the bumper (that would have devistated the front end without the ARB)..

Do a Google search and you with find many pros and cons for both I'm sure.

I like the shorty look.. for me it's varied terrain, so I don't care much.
I checked their web site and under part number it says 'TBA". I guess you can't buy them yet.

I was thinking about catching a tree or rock out on the end of the bumper not through the center. A hit in the center is not going to make a lot of difference between a full width or stubby.

Now I'm thinking about the LOD bumper. It's kinda a cross between a full length and shorty. You get a little extra length for protection, but it doesn't cover the entire tire for the big rocks. I didn't like it at first because it looks a little weird with the slanted part on the top not matching up with the ends of the grill but it's kinda growing on me.

I like the full length but shorties are great for some.

Bumpers are expensive for the JK. I see the same brand bumpers for the YJ & TJ for half the price. For instance, the warn bumper is more than double the price for the JK than previous wranglers.
Maybe cause they're new they have to compensate for design & fabrication, but I don't think they will go down much, if at all, probably increase. Ugh.
