Default Weld on rock rails yes or no

I have a uncle thats real good at welding and making things

Any way he said that he could make me rock rails any way that I would like or just show him a picture of something

Now I started thinking that I might just have him make me the frame mounted ones and have him just weld them to the frame solid

Is there any reasons that I would not want to have them welded on solid

Yeah, so you could take them off.
They may need repair someday, or you might want to replace them.

Not only removal to repair the rails themselves, but if you damage the Jeep in such a way as to require removal of the rails, removing them will be time consuming. Have him make you some that bolt on.

Bolt On. Welding the frame, if not done correctly, can cause a weak spot.

Save yourself the headache and do not weld. Take advantage of the mounting points in case they rust, you find something you like better, or you damage them playing too hard

Bolt on's are a good thing.

If he is good at metal fabrication he should be able to make them so they can be bolted on. I've thought of makeing some of my own,
Good luck
