are 37's to much for the standard non rubicon dana 44 axle to handle?

 

I bet if you put on 37's to the 30 & 44 and get some Chromoly axles, and gusset the front you'd be fine if your not heavy on the pedal in 4 low

Check out AZ Bulldog's rig....he's running 40's on that dana 30!

That being said, guys have wrecked their axles running smaller tires too. It probably comes down to knowing what situations to avoid the gas pedal and so forth.....

 

i could be wrong but isnt the d44 on the "x" the same axle that the rubicon has just without lockers? and if not u can upgrade for about 1500 per axle

 

i believe the rubi axle has different splines, plus the rubi has a 4.10 r&p, only some of the Xs have that with the towing package

 

My pull sheet says D44 heavy duty with...321 on my x

 

From what I've seen after 4 Jeeps (including this JK Rubi) 37s are too much tire diameter for D30/D35 axles, sure it could be too much on D44s depending on how crazy someone is driving in a particular offroad situation. D44s with chromemoly shafts are supposedly good for 37s and even 38s. Personally I'm going with 37s and cmoly shafts, already have welded on the C2 gussets and custom one-off front D44 trussing.

 

No the 30 are fine

 

I think the 30 would be fine as long as you are not to heavy on the skinny pedal.

 

I have had good luck with my X axles and 37s,I do use it in the rocks alot and drive as a daily driver 100+ miles a day,no problems yet! I do have plans in the future for a beefier setup but I am gonna keep using it as is for now.
