Default tie rod and 5.7

First off! Thanks Dan (Burnsville) for taking my JK back with you to Minneapolis and can not wait for the 5.7 Hemi. Moab was fantastic and it was great to meet your crew. So why a Hemi…well JKer’s with a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires and anchors in the aft and stern it only made sense. Gears helped but with an auto I still was searching for RPMS when I was cruising at 70.…so I hope this is my answer!!!

I wrote a few weeks ago on my tie rod dropping and will not make any accusations (we had a lot of that this week with Don Imus and the La Crosse thing). I met some great folk from Jeep when I was at Moab and informed them of what happened. One rep noticed rings that were placed on both sides of my front axle and he showed me de facto that the tie rod had to have been taken off. I was kind of in shock that I took it out on the dealership but I guess that is what happens when we look for blame. I told them that a great guy at the dealership was getting the parts and not charging me. I was told just let them do that. I learned one thing and that is to recheck all bolts and nuts in the future.

In short I am glad that I am on this board with a lot of great information being put out by all of you Jeepers. Maybe next month on my drive home from Burnsville I will see some of you as I make my way back to Phoenix. Action Trailer is about done and am looking forward to many trails and adventures in the great land of Calizona,

SEMPER FI

Lucky SOB! I'd love to put a hemi in my jeep. I tried to get the one out of the wifes charger, but she busted me.....oh well.

So why had your tie-rod been taken off?

Not to be nosy but what does the hemi conversion cost? It is something that I will consider in the future if I ever move to 37's.

Do you get your original motor back or do they keep it?

DARN!!!!!!!!! I shouldn't have gone to that web site link. I thought the 5.7L conversion was only good with an auto transmission. Now I find I can get it with a 6-speed??? So much for going with an Avenger supercharger. Why boost when you can get a 5.7L Hemi???

I see they do 6.1L Hemi's too! I think that is a bit much, I know I'd start snapping parts if I had THAT monster installed.

Starting to save,

Tom

Default by the way.............

so how am i paying for this!

well i now stand on the roadways after work with a big sign

"need money for a new engine" and so far today i made 103.00 dollars...sunday i will hit the church offerings and my newest gimmick i buy something for a dollar and then will tell the clerk i gave them a 20.00 bill.
maybe i will canvas the area asking saying i am with the sierra club and i am looking for donations.
also i think i will head out early in the wee hours and collect newspapers and resell them on the corner.

many of you jk'ers do not know yet,,,but its an addiction and soon i will be heading to jk'ers anonymous. i will see some of you in near the future real soooooon!
