Default Recovery Strap use question....

What is the proper way to use a recovery strap? Specifically, with the 'hook' on the back of my rubicon, I can't use a shackle... So do I just put the loop around the hook... Same with the front tow hooks...

sorry in advance if this is a stupid question.

Just slip the loop over which ever hook you wanted to use, and attach it to whatever you're going to pull with.

Just like winching throw an old towel or blanket over the strap incase it breaks. The wieght of the towel or blanket will make the strap drop to the ground instead of coming back to your face, windshield, etc.

Also make sure that you know if you're using a regular tow strap, or if yu're using a "jerk" strap that is designed to stretch and then retract. Obviously, they need to be used differently.

This thread has some good information. I've seen first hand what can happen when the wrong type of strap is used. It's not pretty.
