Yesterday i disconnected the sway bar for the first time - manual disconnect - and took my Jeep through its paces. Afterwards - re-connected - while parking, a loud klunk eminated from the front end. It happens when turning the wheel full right or full left and just before hitting a full turn.

We watched underneath to try and figure out what was happening but after six or seven times turning the wheel, the klunk stopped before we couldn't pinpoint the source of the problem.

However, after driving a little later and parking, the klunk happened again when leaving the parking spot. I am a little worried to bring it to the dealer just yet since I have the lift and I don't really have a good I dea of what the problem is yet.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

 

Is it safe to assume that when you disconnected your links, you did so on the axle mounts only? If so, have you checked to see if your links are maybe loose where they connect to the sway bar itself? This is a problem that I have started to see on more and more JK and for some reason or another, especially so on the driver side. If these are loose, that might explain your clunking.

One time I didn't tighten the bolt on one side quite enough and it did exactly what you are describing. I stopped and tightened the bolt better and it was gone.
