Default Another %*&^ing tire question...

I'm obsessing over this damned tire choice. I want to keep mods to a minimum for the time being ...

My Jeep: Sahara unlimited (auto, LSD, 18" wheels). 90/10 split between on-road/off-road (very mild, dirt/logging trails). 4-5 months of (on-road) wet/hard-packed/snow/ice. No towing, just a trailer-hitch bike rack.

Which of the following tires would you choose and why? Could I run either of these without rubbing if I were to put in nothing more than a 3/4" spacer up front?

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor: 275/70 18:

OR

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo: 265/70 18:

Both have 50,000 mile warranty; Goodyear has a 5-year Road Hazard warranty.

Thanks.

Do you really want to put a straight up street A/T tire on it? Just kidding. If you want to keep mods to a minimum, don't do anything to it. I would save my money and put some good/agressive all terrains (BFG, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Etc.) on it later(when your current shoeswear out) if your not really going to off-road it much.

The bridgestones are the best of those choices. They are built better get better traction on and off road and have a much better ride to them. Also the get better tread wear.

Best price I've found so far for Nitto Terra Grapplers (275/70 18) in Calgary is $400/tire PLUS freight/brokerage... with tax that's pushing $2,200 Cdn. (including spare)... not interested in putting that much cash into tires.

The Revo's are awesome AT's, I've run them on road trucks and they ride and drive great! As for a mud terrain type tire, also consider the Hankook's. Several jeeps here are running them and really like them bang for your buck! I've no idea on cost, but they haver referenced them as "affordable" MT's!
Good luck to ya! At least you have a jeep to put them on, so quit your Bi@*#ing~!~~

Revo AT's did great in the snow this year, & can't hear them on the highway....wish they were 33's though, and for a much tougher JK look M/T's would be a better choice..

That's Ridiculous! My Mud Grapplers only cost half that much for five. I had very good luck with Yokohama Geolander AT's if that is an option. Not as agressive as Nitto's or BFG's, but seemingly, to me anyway, a little more agressive than your two choices listed.

Default REVOS are underrated...

I have 33" REVOS on my Jeep and for my 300+ miles on the road per week, they are quiet, dependable tires. For my moderate off roading in the woods of Missouri (roughly 10% of the time) they have been decent and haven't left me stuck in the mud yet! They are better than I expected for the price. I paid right around $600 installed with lifetime balancing, rotation & replacement warranty (pro-rated of course). They suit my needs, and are worth the price.

I can only comment on the Revos, but I have had mine a long time, when they 1st came out. Sorry I don't know how many miles I have on them but I have been very happy with them. Nice looking aggressive look ( for a AT tire ) and maybe, maybe louder then a street tire. I would buy again.

Between the two the Bridgestone would be a better tire. But me personally I would go with a BFG A/T KO. It is by far the best all terrain tire made and they last a long time as well.
