Default Viper V10 8.3L in a JK?

Has anybody ever put a V10 Viper motor in a JK? Is there room? And could the computer be programmed? And what transmission would you use? All good questions, I think...

Here is a V10 8.3L 450HP engine for $6750.00

Something to make you go; hmmmmmmmmm???

It could probably be done. They put one in a TJ so it should fit in a JK. And from the pictures I’ve seen, even the 6.xL Hemi's fit the JK's with a little room to spare. So if it did fit, it would be a tight fit and some mods to the radiator support would have to be done.

And I’d mate it to a viper's transmission. Be nice if it could link up to the standard 6 speed already in jeeps but I don't know if they are compatible.

It would be awesome to see a viper motor in a jk. Sounds like something Camp would do...

For 450HP, I'd rather swap in the 6.1 Hemi. Call it a day.

HP to HP I would agree, but to have a V10 Viper motor would be COOL!!!

I think Burnsville put one in a JK at one point as well as a TJ. They seem to be able to put anything into a JK if you're willing to pay them enough.

Me: "What kind of torque do they generate on the low-end? I'm asking because, while I have no doubt that a Viper V10 is better for top-end speed, I'm thinking a Hemi would actually be much more useful in a JK."

^ There goes that thought... it outperforms the Hemi, and delivers its HP and TQ down lower...

8.3 L V10 (505 CID/8285 cc)[5]

510 bhp (380 kW) @ 5600 rpm
535 lb·ft (725 N·m) @ 4200 rpm

6.1 Hemi

425 bhp (318 kW) @ 6000 rpm, (69.8 bhp/L)
420 lb.-ft. (569 N•m) @ 4800 rpm

Seems heavy. It would certainly be for show. I think the Viper tremec 6 speed is the one that Chrysler mates with the 6.1 now in the challenger, etc.

Burnsville shows they get 525hp out of their 6.4L hemi conversion. I now on their front page it says they offer a 7.0L Hemi. It may be that V10 would be the over weight and under powered choice for the ultimate conversion
