Default Disconnect Question

I have not ever disconnected my sway bars for 4 wheeling so this will be a new experience for me.

The RC disco's seem to work well enough (a bit tight to reconnect, but still can be done with minimal effort), but I have an idea on tying up the sway bar that I want to run by the group.

I have used nylon web and buckles quite a bit for back packing, tying up cargo in my airplane and such.

I can buy the components at Ace for around $10 to make two straps that would go through the large holes in the frame and would secure the sway bar nicely, but I don't see anyone doing this. Seems like it would be as strong as zip ties, and reuseable.

Is there a reason this would be a bad idea?????

No reason why they won't work. You do need to make sure that they stay put and are not in the way of your wheels/tires lock to lock. Everyone is different size of tires and backspace on your wheels can make the location different.

I actually use a special kind of twist tie that I got at Tractor Supply. I will see if I can find a pic.

They are called KwickTwist and can even be put together to make a longer tie. These things are awesome.

too little too late I guess, but this is the exact reason I bought the Teraflex discos...they have that nifty little bracket that lets you pin the link up and out of the way so you don't have to worry about it.....well worth the $100 I spent IMO.

Yeah, the TF units are top drawer, but I basically go the RC disco's free with my lift/shocks, so no reason to spend the extra money when they all do the same thing, but I still like easy solutions, so thought the nylon route was pretty simple, cheap and effective.

Geeper...I do like the look of those ties. Have never seen them before even though I live in farm country. Will have to go looking. Thinking they would be useful tying stuff to the roll bars too.

Here's what I just did to hold up the sway bar for my last trip. I built 5 of them (one for each jeep on the trip) for around $15.
