Default Tire question yet again. Sorry but I've read too much and my brain locked up!!

I think I'm suffering from "tread block" or "rubber brain". I've read so much about what fits and doesn't fit I gave up and decided to ask for help from you folks. I started to head to my local tire store but most just want to sell something and aren't really interested with answering questions. So here is my question.

07 Sahara with 18" rims and TFlex 2.5 BB. I want to get a little taller and wider tire and rims without rubbing at full turn. Full flex rub probably won't come into play as my ride will be mainly highway use, daily driver with some weekend light trail time. My choices:

Rims:
MT Classic 17x9 5" BS

Tires:
1st choice: BFG 315/70 R17 - Sect Width 12" - 34.5" tall
2nd choice: BFG 305/65 R17 - Sect Width 12.2" - 32.7" tall
3rd choice: BFG 285/70 R17 - Sect Width 11.5" - 32.8" tall

Which one can I go with and not worry about full turn rub? Will I need spacers with any of them? I'm not to concerned about how much the tire sticks out from the fender. Thanks for the help in advance.

The BFG 285's and 305's will have plenty of room, and the 315's should be good also since you're not going off-road much. I've seen plenty of people with 35x12.5 on a 2.5 lift and those aren't even 315's which are shorter.

i probably wouldn go any wider than a 11.5" tire. i havent looked under my sahara under full turn, but i wouldnt think there is that much clearance to go much wider than stock. you should have the option of adjusting the steering locks. but that will inhibit your manuverablity.

I plan on installing the same lift an running the 315/70R17's but on aftermarket wheels, with more backspacing. you always have the option to get wheel spacers to move the tires/rims outboard to get more clearance.

gjeepguy,

I am planning on mounting the tires on 17x9's with 5" bs. Are they still going to rub on full turn? If so, I guess I'll have to go the spacer route.

The 315's will be fine with 4.5" or more BS. I'm running 17x8 Cragers with those tires and have not issues.

You do have to trim the corners off the front lower splash gaurd but after that there have been no rubs.
