Default Can I tow a 2007 Civic Hybrid?

I am preparing for a move to TN and would like to tow my wife's 2007 Civic Hybrid with my Unlimited about 780 miles from Oklahoma. I am not very savy on towing requirements but I do know that the curb weight of the civic is around 2900 ibs. Will I have any issues?

Also what would I need to do this?

Thanks!

Not sure of the legal thing, (state) laws etc, but you'd need a tow dolly to get the front tires off the ground.....
As far as the Jeep being able to tow it, probably at the limit, but should be able to handle it.

what kind of rear axle do you have? If you have a 44 rear I'd say you'd be fine. Even a D35 would probably do it. Do you plan to dolly tow it or trailer tow it?

All Unlimiteds have the D44.

I would look into the tow dolly setup, should keep you safely within the towing limit.

I figured the dolly set-up would be ok. I just want to make sure I don't do any tranny damage pulling it. Unfortunately I do not think rental companies will rent me a dolly since I have a class II hitch. I know U-haul definitely won't.

Default towing from Lawton

Hi Parrothead! As a veteran of many trips from Oklahoma thru Tennessee to get back to Virginia- ( family originated in Grandfield, sister in Geronimo, brother in Ardmore) I guess you'll head north and pick up I40 East? It's a good route no long grades until you get toward Nashville. The JK will handle a tow dolly with a Honda just fine. I would not attempt pulling anything with the JK automatic without installing a tranny cooler.....

You won't have a problem. Tranny cooler on an auto would be good.

I tow a trailer that is quite heavy in a 6 speed with a weight distributing hitch and brake controller and it handles great.

If you plan to tow after your move, the brake controller is worth it for the piece of mind, of course you woule need a trailer with brakes or a harness for the hybrid for the move. May not be worth it for the one time.

I was curious on stopping as well, someone else mentioned it but I didn't see a clear answer. Obviously break controlers would be awsome but say pulling a boat or a couple/3 ATVs. Any issues with stopping more than you'd see with a truck.
