Default Best Recovery Straps for the Money

I've been shopping around for a couple good recovery staps here lately but haven't made up my mind. I want to get a 20' and 30' strap. I was just wondering, what brand staps are the best bang for the buck? Some of them are really expensive and probably only because of the brand name. I never owned a "recovery" strap. In the past I have used chains, rope, and even 3" ratchet straps which aren't the safest recovery devices. Now, I just want to get the right tools for the job. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info Neal! The ARB staps seem really nice. Since most of my recoveries are in mud, keeping the straps clean will be kinda tough.

x2 on the ARB - I just picked up the same one - it's the 24k lb. The specs for the 3 that they offer are on their website.

While having the best is nice, I would not agree in this case. Having a 24,000 or 22,000 pound pulling capacity is good for lifting industrial equipment, I would rather have the strap break than break my JK. See video:

Personally, I bought a 3" x 20 ft strap from HFT for $35. It has a pulling strength of 9,000 lbs which gives me a 2x safety factor at least.

Remember this saying with any strap you may use that is damaged, "If you see RED, you could be DEAD." There are bands of nylon inside the strap red in color. Any tears or rips that expose those fibers means that strap it toast. Cut it into 12" pieces to be used as protection from cables or other straps.

That's my .

The ARB recovery kit is sweet I work in an industrial environment. We use all kinds of lifting slings/straps. I know quality. Spend a couple of extra dollars and have the best.

The ARB strap is awsome and what i use for the heavy duty recovery jobs i due. Just got a couple of smaller straps from 4wheel parts, 20' smittybuilt for 17.00 and a 30' for 20.00 or in that neiborhood.

You'll find out as you use the gear, you'll need a couple of straps, shackles, come alongs and gloves. I've got all this in a canvas bag that I can toss between the rigs. Keep your stuff together, keep it clean, and protect it. It'll do it's part when it's needed.

Default Keeper brand straps

ARB is sweet stuff, although I've never used their straps before. Remember when your shopping, there is a difference between a tow strap (used for pulling a rolling load down a road) and a snatch strap (used for recovering stuck vehicles using stretch and snap action). I've used Keeper brand straps for many years. While my keeper straps don't have the cloth eye loop sleves, I've never needed them. I take care of my straps and use D-rings/shackles to mount them. The Keeper straps are THICK at the eyes, so they don't wear out there. Old age, sun and rot kill most straps. I recommend a 2"x30' or 3"x30' Keeper. Amazon has great prices on them and they are made in the USA!

The one I got is from Erickson and it's a 2" strap rated for 18,000 pounds and cost around $30 for the 30' model, and $25 for the 20'.
