strength is related to the number of wires and amount of strands
7 stands of 19 wires per strand

is common but there are others
and up sizing isn't a bad idea either
i have 3/8 cable and all 3/8 hardware, that my 10,000lb winch came with.

3/8 may have the same wire and strands but the wire diameter is a few thous thicker
