Default Welding up the Dana 30

We will be welding on the Dana 30 this week. If anyone has suggestions or ideas that would be helpful please post. I intend to reinforce the C2's and will put a truss across the the top of the axle. The truss is probably not necessary but it won't hurt anything. I do know that I will need to keep the C cool to not ruin the grease in the joint. I will use wet rags and short welds to keep the temp from building up. I will also cover the lower control arm attachments. I will post pics as we make progress.

it's sounds like you've got things covered when it comes to the C2's but you really need to be careful when welding on a truss as doing so can easily bend your axle tube.

We used to just weld angle iron on the top and bottom of axles as reinforcement. It doesn't require a lot of room, but is very strong. It works well.

Space the welds and allow them to cool. If you get the axle hot it WILL warp!

I've been thinking of welding on Rock Krawlers truss. Is there a proper procedure to follow to do so such that it wont warp? Or would I be better off to go with the Mount Logam sleeve? That is assuming the sleeve can be used with AlloyUSA front axles.

Welded up the area in front of the lower control arms. Didn't have time to get much done this week.....It's a start on the Dana 30 build.
