Garvin Wilderness rear bumper and rack
I have put the Wilderness rear bumper, tire rack, and two gerry can holders on my JK. I really like it. The problem is that when this is put on you have to take off the stock rear bumper. Since the outer part of the rear bumper serves as the bottom part of the rear fender, this mod makes my JK no longer street legal. Mud flaps are possible, but I don't see how to attach them. I have been thinking about trying to cut down the stock rear bumper and reattach just the outer fender part of the original rear bumper so I am street legal again. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to solve this problem?

At the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab I spoke with Bob Garvin, owner of Wilderness products, about this problem. He told me to let him know if I had a problem with licensing my JK because of the bumper/mud flap problem. The next month, when I had to have my jeep pass the regular biannual safety inspection, I flunked because of the lack of mud flaps. I e-mailed Bob and told him what had happened.
Bob was great! He personally fabricated a mud flap carrier to bolt to the rear frame. They fit and look great. He did all of this work, shipped the flaps to me, and refused to take any money for it!
What a great guy and a great company!
