I had thought about going the same way. After seeing how small the R&P was in he D30 I have changed my mind. I am afraid that I may have made a mistake going 5.13s in a Dana 30. The pinion is tiny. I put an aussie locker in the front at the same time and tack welded the u-joint caps to the axles. I was going to do exactly what you are talking about but I changed my mind. I also decided to go with 35s until I can afford to D44 the front. I am afraid I will break my D30 with 35s now that it is locked up.

yeah, i will go with 5.13. beacuse with the cromo axles it should have the strength of the 44. the 44 and 30 axle housings are the same i think. then just throw the ORE gussets on and it should be good. i dont have a real heave foot....only in snow and mud, not on rock.

the ring and pinions are different for the d30 and d44. what is the same is the actuall tubing on the mopar d30 and d44. i have beat the hell out of my d30 and its still running strong with 35's and i am soon to put on 37's. like you said if i finially break it i am either going 60 or bulit up 44 non mopar
