Spare tire is tearing up the tailgate... looking at building tire carrier.
Well I've only had my 35" KM2 on for a month or so now, and every time I hit a bump, I can see the thing rattle like it's about to tear the rear of the vehicle off. It's gotten progressively worse, and this evening it really got to concerning me. Anyway, I was going to wait until AEV released their rear setup and buy that or the LOD if AEV's didn't suit me... but I'm afraid I can't wait any longer. So I'm thinkin about building a bare bones rear bumper/tire carrier to alleviate my issues while I wait. I plan to model it after the Rancho rear bumper/tire carrier, just as an idea. (Just figure I can make one for less than 430 bucks)
All of my tools are at home (I'm up at school) and I don't have any metal suppliers that I know around here, so would prefer to have my dad pick up stuff from the local guys back home... In order for me to do that, I'd need a few pics of the rear of the JK with the rear bumper removed (Frame rails exposed) and measurements if at all possible... (It would be easier to measure with the rear bumper off, but I could probably fudge something close with mine still attached if need be)
Anyway, some pics would definitely be helpful. Thanks a bunch, guys.
