Default Wheel Threads

Hi,

Just finished mounting my new wheels (came in today). I'll post pics tommorow. I just have a quick question. When i tried to take the last stock wheel off (happens to be left rear tire), it was kindda stuck in place (after all lug nuts are off). After gettting it off, i noticed that on 2 of the lug thread end, there is this thin metal that's kindda holding the stock wheel snug (sorry for the horrible description).

Does anybody know what that is? i just broke it and took it out. Doesn't seem to have a purpose

tks

That's after i cut the metal. It's circular, and it was at the base of the lug thread. THe funny thing is, that's one on 2 of the lug thread, the other three is normal

anybody? i was just looking through the install that WOL has on suspension, and noticed that these rings are on his lug thread too (just two of them on each hub). I'm not sure if i did something bad here (by just getting these two rings out of the left rear hub).

Pretty sure they just hold they wheels on for production and build. Definitely not needed. I wouldn't sweat it.

I believe those are the retaining clips for the rotors. Almost all vehicles with disc brakes have them if the rotor slips over top the studs. This allows the rotors not to slip out of place while replacing the pads an so on. The factory wheels have relief cuts on all 5 holes to sit over top of them so they mount flush.

This is correct.

so, since the aftermarket wheels i put on (pro comp 8179) has no relief cuts on them (it's completely flat), is it ok to remove it?

I don't see a problem with that. They are required to be removed before using wheel spacers, but then the spacer acts as a retainer.
