So how quiet are your gears? I just had mine installed tuesday. I do hear a bit of a whine when I take my foot off the accelerator but its very faint. Its hard to tell over the sound of my MTs. Is this normal?

your gears whined, I am shocked....ok not really

Being we had the same shop do our gears and mine lasted 1800miles before this happened

if your gears are whining they are NOT setup correctly and will not last, and the really bad news is I dont believe they can be adjusted once you've put miles on them. I believe the whine comes from the pinion load not set properly, but I could be wrong. I believe you'll need a new set once the teeth wear a pattern into each other.

Mine were replaced by a different shop and I've got 26,000mi on them now
look at this beautiful pattern

if you're hearing a "hum" and NOT a "whine" you are most likely hearing your your front drive shaft vibrate. when the vibe is light enough, can hear it before you can really feel it.

For those who hear their gears whining, take the diff cover off and check the contact pattern on both sides of the ring gear teeth.
It may be a good thing to check after regearing even if they are silent.
