Cool Does 4 inch lift on 4dr need shafts

So im pretty new to the site and I am at the point where I am going to be modifying my jeep with lift, wheels, and tires. I am really looking to start with the basics on the lift because i dont want to break the bank. So I am planning on going with the Procomp Stage 1 4 inch lift. Lift uses stock control arms but I was planning on upgrading the control arms shortly after. Really cant beat the price for the lift. Found the lift for 600 with shipping. The thing thats holding me back is talk about the driveshafts not holding up with a 4inch lift on a 4dr. I really dont want to upgrade driveshafts or risk damaging one on the jeep. Jeep is my daily driver, and takes me and my family everywhere. Wont be doing any major of roading at all. Just the usual trips to the beach and a few dips in the mud every now and then. Really just lifting for the look. So what info do you guys have for me. Anybody running the same lift or similar and not having problems? I plan on going with some beefy 35s. post a pic or two if you got them.

If you have an automatic, then you'll need a front shaft. The stock rear is fine with a 4 door and a 4" lift.

Fram oil filter question.

Pay me now or pay me later.

You can go for a while (? long ?) with the stock stuff, but the angles created by the lift will wear them out faster. Where will you be when that happens?

Is it absolutley neccessary when the lift is installed or could it be used stock for a while. Im really itching to hit the order button on my lift , but i dont want to shoot myself in the foot after ive installed it. You running a 4 inch? anyone running a 4 inch with stock shafts?

I dont think so. Where i live that would be almost impossible. There is not a hill or rock trail for about 500 miles from here. It is very flat down here. The biggest flex this thing will see is jumping the curb on a right hand turn on the streets

If you don't hit max flex, you'll probably be OK. Even then you won't damage you drive shaft so you can't get home - you'll most likely just rip the boot. Figure about $500 to have a new one installed, less if you do it yourself.

I had a stock frt shaft on my 4in superlift for about 10,000 miles. If you have an auto tranny , you'll rip the boot if you disconnect for off-road. If you don't disco you'll be ok for awhile. I dropped my tranny skid 1/2in with washers and notched it out, but under certain articulation the clamp on the boot will hit the tranny pan itself and rip the boot and possibly damage the tranny pan. When I went to frt adj control arms, I changed the frt shaft. Been running the stock rear for 30,000 miles. I mudded mostly with the stock frt shaft and didn't disco the sway bar. But discoing is soooo much better off-road, even on small hilly trails.

I'm a big fan of rough country, they have great customer service, great prices and really great products.

I have the 4" rough country lift with my stock drive shaft ( i have the 6 speed though) so i can't tell you for sure if you need a drive shaft but if you do rough country sells extended driveshafts right on their site. Haven't heard much about ttheir drive shafts but I can't imagine it would be bad especially if your not doing any extreme wheeling

I'm using stock shafts with no problems yet with 35's and a 4 inch
