Will a 285/65/18 tire fit on the spare tire bracket or will I need a spare tire extension bracket?

Yes, it will fit. No spacer needed.

I ran up to a 315/70/17 on my previous JK. I also ran 287/70/17 and 265/75/16.

Sheesh I've spent a lot of $$ on tires.
