Default Help! Mounting 35" Spare In Factory Location

Hello All,

I recently installed 35" Toyo Open Country tires and Hulk rims on my JK. I finally got around to getting a matching wheel and tire for a spare. I tried to install yesterday and ran into a bunch on problems. I know I have seen photos of over sized tires mounted in the factory location and I was hoping if anyone out there could please let me know the mods need to get my spare mounted.

Thanks in advance!!

Yeah, you are gonna need a spacer of some sort. I ended up buying a set of 4 teraflex spacers, using one while selling the other 3 for people in the same boat (actually holding one for somebody, but if it falls through, I'll put it up in the for sale section). I plan on ordering new rear/bumper tire carrier and I will have the 4th one available in about 4 weeks or so.

or you could do what i did and call spidertrax, they were able to sell me one that was blemished(one tiny scratch on it) for 1/4 of the price that a pair of spacers costs

call up spidertrax, very pleasant to deal with and excellent customer service

jeepik, What is the back spacing of your rim and what size spacer did you go with?

Have you tried turning the tire around and mounting it backwards. I did this and it worked just fine. Hope it works for you.

Pulmano PM me and let me know what you want for the 4th spacer. I need one for mounting a 33 Hankook on the spare.
Also is the 3rd light adjustable vertically? No one has mentioned purchasing a relocation kit or if they adjust from the factory! Thanks in advance...

You shouldn't need a spacer to put a 33 Hankook with stock wheel on the tailgate. I was able to fit my 315-70-17 with the moab wheel on with only trimming the rubber tailgate spacers. It's tight, but it will fit.

Default mount tire

I took the rubber bumpers off tailgate , mounted 17" moab wheel and 35" toyo tire with bottom lug nut only. After about 2 weeks you can get the other lug nuts on and the tailgate works really good. I think the plastic streches a little. Tire rest on bumper for good support.
