Default polished vs. chrome vs. powder-coated

I'm looking to buy some new Pro-Comp wheels and I have a choice of polished, chrome, or powder-coated. I'm new to aftermarket wheels so can someone tell me what the advantages and disadvantages in terms of maintenance are? Also, does powder coated usually mean it is darker? Anyone know what sort of color Pro-Comp powder coated wheels are?

Thanks.

order of maintence
polished -most
chrome -middle
powdercoated -least

powdercoated is a process of baking a powder to its melting point... a really hard coat of paint. most wheels are powdercoated black, but there are other colors.

pro comp has a "cast-blast" finish for wheels i am not entirely sure what that is (maybe they shoot the powdercoat on the wheel while it is hot, who knows). all of these wheels are black, some with a machined or polished rim.

Powdercoat is the way to go. You can get a powdercoat in any color. I don't know what is offered. Powdercoat is a more resillient finish...

there's your answer. powder coat. you can spray paint the rock-rash away.

speaking of which. i've been meaning to ask, but keep forgetting. my wheels are much too shiny for me. if i can manage to find some krylon metallic graphite, do you all think it would stick to the alloys alright? i've gotten overspray on alloys before, and that stuck to 'em...

now, i know that to properly paint aluminum there is all kinds of prep work. i don't care. i'm not looking to pull any blue ribbons...

might want to hit then with some sandpaper so the paint has something to hold on to. probably be fine either way.

I figured I'll go with the bling look for awhile. After that I'll paint them black like the other procomps..
