Default Bestop Trektop - Installation Opinions

For those of you who have the Bestop Trektop...... How difficult was your installation? I've seen posts on here where some said it was a snap, others say it was a major pain.... I'd like to get these opinions in one thread (this one). I ordered mine today and looked at the online installation instructions. It doesn't look very easy to me. Here's a link to the instructions.....

I think you'll find people's opinions are just that... opinions. A lot on here say that it is a PITA to put the soft top up, but I have done it enough that it is a snap. Matter of fact, I can put my soft top up in the same time it takes me to remove my bikini top and the rear Windjammer window. (that thing is a worthless PITA)

I agree.... It's very easy to take the soft top off and put it back up. Once you do it enough times, you could do it in your sleep.....

I've seen how many pieces come with the Trektop, so I'm wondering how much is actually involved in assembling it. I'm sure once it's on it will be easy to take on and off. Judging by the instructions, it seems like there's quite a bit of assembly involved.

Awesome. Thanks! I've searched for a video that had installation instructions but haven't found anything like that. My concern is getting the parts that you have to attach to the Jeep on right, such as the door surrounds. What are the odds that the one I ordered comes with the velcro for the tailgate? I'd really rather get the bar version. They're shipping them with the bars now right?

on the 2 door, its 2 bolts on each door surround, and the two bolts for the header...

Its very simple, either the people that are complaining have no mechanical abilities at all, or they are lazy. take your pick

something to keep in mind if you hve never had a soft top at all before... they shrink... a lot more than you think they do, when they are cold. If it is real hard to put it on, look at the temp. I am sure it is a non-issue, and probably had nothing to do with the guy that had issues. but it is much easier to put on a soft top at 90*F than it is at 50*F for sure.

Yeah, I plan on heating my garage up to around 75 degrees before putting it on. I'll let it sit in there for at least a day so it can warm up. Definitely, soft tops seems to shrink like crazy in the cold. I know a guy who got a new one and tried to get in on during the cold and almost couldn't do it.

Thanks for the info. For some reason I thought they were shipping the newer ones with that piece. Looks like I'll be ordering that piece now. I really don't like the velcro option.
