Default 285/75R16 on Cragar 397 16" rims / no lift

Y'all, I've already got 60,000 miles on my '07 JK and it's time to replace the tires.

I'd like to go with something bigger that'll still treat me right on the interstate where I do most of my driving. To be honest, the stock 245/75R16s treated me pretty good. As much as I'd like to do a lot of off-road driving, the fact is that my Jeep spends 99% of the its time on the highway and I'd like something comfortable.

Tirerack.com recommends the Firestone Destination A/T. I'm clueless as to which tire to get, but I've got to replace them to pass inspection. I have the Cragar Series 397 steel wheels w/ a little more offset than the stock 16" wheels that the Jeep came with. Any suggestions/advice?

My Jeep has also been going into the death wobble pretty violently on occasion lately.

Not sure about the cause of your death wobble. I'd suggest having the steering system checked out for loose ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.

What is the backspacing of your rims? I'm running a set of Trxus M/T's on Cragar soft-8 rims with 4.5" backspacing and I have no rub, and the JK has been stable at highway speeds. Lost 1mpg from the bigger tires, but I can accept that.

will be going with a set of Cooper Discoverer STT tires once my bonus check comes in.
Can't decide between 265/75 R16 or 235/85 R16.

Dropping to a 32" so the dealership won't deny any warranty issues.

Everything seems to be tight. I had both front axles replaced a couple months ago (for the THIRD time -- apparently, the first time they were replaced, the dealership removed the steering stop, allowing the axle to hyperextend; the second dealership to fix it didn't catch it. Unfortunately, even though this was clearly Jeep's fault, the third time happened out of warranty). The wobble would happen slightly before I got the axles replaced and became horrendous afterwards. I've shook and shifted all of the suspension members under the Jeep and nothing feels loose.

It looks like the 16x8 w/ 5x5 bolt pattern has a 5" backspacing, according to Jegs
