Default Steering lag..How to make steering tighter?

Hi ya'll!!

I just had stage II completed on my JK. All it needs now is an alignment, but I have also noticed the steering is a bit looser than before, lagging. I can move the steering wheel about a inch to each side with out any reaction from the jeep. Kind of scary if you ask me. The faster I go the more I notice it. I don't think this anything to do with the bad alignment I have at the moment.

Suggestions??

Get te front end off the ground and have a friend turn the wheel back and forth while you watch. Make sure your tie-rod ends and similar are all tight.

Are you referring to a bad ball joint in the end or making sure the bolts on the ends are tight?

Don't think the ball joints are bad. They are new since I had a high steer kit put in and a HD tie rod. I gave both the drag link and tie rod a good shaking and no movement noticed.

I'll definitly try what BigblueJK recommended.

Thanks!

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Did you try tightening the bolts on them?

I thought you are supposed to do this with the front end on the ground so there is resistance?

Either way my alignment tech has to set the toe in, so I guess he'll make sure to tighten them up once he is done.

Besides loose ball joints, what else could it be?

Could be anything in the steering. Bad box, steering shaft. I already had to replace on box at 12K.

Why did you replace your steering box, did it help, did you replace it with a factory or aftermarket replacement and how much $$$?
