Default Maximizing Horsepower, Torque & Fuel Economy?

Hello all, I'm not only new to the forum but to the Jeep world itself. Just bought my first ever Jeep (09 Wrangler X Flame Red) a month ago & it's been great! I've already added a 2.5" TF BB lift kit & am running 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers at the moment (on 20x10" KMC Rockstars) & I've noticed a hit at the gas pump. I'm getting less MPG's running the 35's (I know it's Jeep 101 stuff) so now I'm looking to maximizing my horsepower, torque, & most important, fuel economy by adding an intake, exhaust & economy program modual. Right now I'm caught between just the XDI intake, Banks catback exhaust system, & the econ mod or should I go the whole 9 and get after market headers & a catalytic converter while am at it? Will new headers & a new CC "SIGNIFICANTLY" help me in the horsepower, torque and fuel economy department or would the intake, exhaust and econ mod be sufficient? Sorry for the long post, it's my first one

I have a 08 X Flame Red, so i can respect your choice. I did a lot of research(mostly just asking around) about how to get my power back after a 3" lift and 35 inch BFG A/T. Most of the stuff I found told me chip, exhaust, and intake didn't add much horsepower. Most people said regear my Jeep. So I did and now It feels like it did stock. Then I put a cheap flowmaster muffler for the sound and I am happy with all of it. Flowmaster Muffler, Yukon 4.88 Gears, ARB lockers, ARB diff covers and labor and Im out $3500, just to give you and idea. Have all my power and jeep sounds good.

Lets see some pics of those wheels.

imo probably the best mod that you can do would be to change the gears out to 4:88 for more on road and 5:13 for more off road. you would get all of the above that you are looking for, horsepower, torque and fuel economy.sounds like it is hard to find someone that really knows what they are doing when it comes to setting up gear sets as far as some of the posts that i have read here.this is my take on what i have read here.GOOD LUCK

Check out our cat-back exhaust systems. They are all direct bolt on, stainless or aluminized systems. We have proven dyno numbers and these systems can be installed by the average do it yourselfer in a few hrs.

Here is a youtube clip of our system on our 4 door:

If you really want to maximize fuel economy and power seems like re-gearing and a supercharger are in order. Don't have much experience but I know if you're not a pedal masher superchargers increase gas mileage. Run a search on it.

Thanks for the replies guys I really appreciate the help.
*I will post pics of my ride as soon as I can take some.
*MBRP thanks for the link, the exhuast sounds great, I will take it into consideration.
*It seems that the agreed upon way of acheiving my performance goals is to change out the gears. Does doing so void the lifetime engine warranty? I know I'm going to get slack for this but I don't plan on doing anything extreme with my Jeep (heavy rock crawling etc.). Maybe some mild off-roading but that's about it. I really would like to keep this Jeep for a while and was advised by my salesman to becareful about what mods I perform because certain mods void the warranty.

Well, then you sound like a perfect regearing candidate. If you are not going to do heavy off-roading, then there is hardly no chance you'll break something that can be blamed on the gears. But, yes, if you regear and then somehow break an axle, etc., sure they can deny you warranty coverage.

If it was me and I was worried about the warranty, I'd leave what you've done and do the regear. Then stop there.

Nothing you've proposed will SIGNIFICANTLY increase your mileage (other than driving slower) but a regear will seriously improve road manners and may even help you pickup a gallon or two in the mpg you seek.

If you want to buy the banks exhaust I will sell you mine. It's two months old. I would recommend The MBRP exhaust thou. I currently have the Xdi air intake. Sounds great when excellerating.
