Buying a BB, is it better to get the aftermarket shocks?
Title basically says it all, I am getting the 2.5" teraflex budget boost, should I get the aftermarket shocks? or are the OEM 'X' ones "good enough"
looks like its $264 Vs. $416

David at Northridge prefers the adapters to the shocks so I would go with the adapters. You can always pick up shocks later down the road if you feel differently.

Whichever kit you go for, get the shocks. I got a FT 2" BB on mine and wish I had done it differently. If I were you, I would wait. I would get the Teraflex 2.5" coil kit. It's more expensive, but it's well worth it. I may even end up buying it piece by piece to be able to afford it, but that's what I am going to do. If you get a BB with spacers, you'll always wonder how springs would have done. I don't plan on ever going more than the 2.5-3" the Teraflex kit offers anyway, so why not do it the most correct way? I just got in a hurry.

Hmm conflicting opinions now. I took a look at Notrhridge4x4 and could not find the right lift. thanks for the link. I would rather shop at a sponsor
I think I might go with the 2.5" kit without the shocks and use the adapters for now and upgrade the shocks down the road.
I noticed it says that if you plan to use stock wheels that you need wheel spacers. why is this? I was planning on running my stock 17" wheels for now, and upgrading to 16" soft-8's and bfg 33" KM2's when the tax refund check comes in.
any help?
Thanks for the help so far.

You need the spacers. Northridge sells the popular 1.5" spidertrax spacers.
Shocks... Do you have the factory tow package?
If so, no need to upgrade shocks at this time. The tow pkg has beefier spring rates and HD shocks from the factory.
This is the reason why some lifted jeeps rub, some don't, some feel sloppy and soft while others feel too stiff. Every JK owner seems to have a different feel & ride. Failing to remember that there is over 20 different spring rates from the factory.
So, if you have tow pkg & dual top GRP, just get the extensions. But if you have a stripped down bare bones soft top, without the tow pkg etc, then get the beefier shocks.
(full disclosure) This is my opinion.
I personally have the TF 2.5 spacer lift w extensions.

I've got the Full Traction 2" BB on my Sahara 4 door. I swapped in a set of Rubicon shocks - and the shock extensions from Teraflex and got their sway bar disconnects too. The Rubicon shocks are great - you can find some on here any day for sale.
