Default New Wheels or Wheel Spacers?

Hi Guys, first time poster here!

I have a Flame Red 08 2 Door X I bought a few months ago. It came with the steelies and 225's which I detested! After about a week I found a set of 4 Maxxis Buckshot Mudders (265x75x16's) mounted on Jeep Alloy knockoff wheels. I mounted them up and have been running them without issue. I will be installing a mild lift in a few weeks (Rubicon Express, Zone, or TF) and you guessed it, I want to add bigger tires. Have a line on some MT Baja Claws via Craigslist and they are 33x12.5x16's. Think the height is OK but the width I am not sure about with my alloy wheels. Get a lot of crap for having tires stick out past the fenders in my area and new flares are not in the budget. Can you tell me if spacers can be used with the alloys I mention and if so, what size for a 12.5" wide tire? Again, don't want these sticking out past the fenders, but I don't want them rubbing either. Would also entertain buying some inexpensive Cragar wheels if backspacing is the issue.

Appreciate the input!

I have 265 75 16 tires on eagle alloys wheels and they stick out about 1 inch so I know 33x12.5x16's will stick out past the fenders

My current wheels and tires are set back from the fenders about 1.5 inches right now. Could see how the 12.5 inch tire would bring it to the edge, but wouldn't I run into rubbing issues without using a wheel spacer?
