Nitto Mud Grappler NOISE and Wear
Current or past owners comment please--
Ok, I know a lot of you guys run these and I can't deny that they look incredible. But my rig sees a lot of street and highway time (wife's kid taxi and weekend traveler). Tell me about road noise and tire life. Could I stand to drive it on a long road trip?
It just seems like it would sound like I'm being chased by a huge swarm of angry bees all the time.
FYI- I run 37's and am looking to replace BFG AT's. I have run many other mud tires on other rigs and know the basic acceptance of tread noise. KM2 was first choice, but I am digging the bad boy looks of the Grappler and starting to waffle.

... my speedo just turned over to 49K! My Nittos were on my rig since new (500 miles). Just before the mileage turnover, I used a different set of wheels and tires for approximately 1500 miles (before I sold them) but that doesn't take away from how well my originals have done.
My advice... religiously rotate your tires every 5K miles and you'll do well. 50K miles on these things is not unheard of!
I'm currently shopping for replacement 35's but these wheels should give me another 5 to 7k miles!
They ARE noisy. Passengers always point this out. Some have even compared the noise level to "flying in a B-52 Bomber."
If you can stand the noise, they look good, wear well, are awsome on the trails and sand (I'm mostly a sand-hog)... and did I mention that they look good???!!!
My thumbs-up!
