Is there any impact to the speedometer when changing the ring and pinion ratio?

 

nope... unlike the old TJs where they read speed from a speedo gear in the transfer case, these get the speed from the ABS tone ring I think. So the speedo is only affected by tire size. No more cheap $8 speedo gears to re-calibrate speed. :( o well.

 

That's an excellent question?? As I understood the wheel sensor is on the front driver side wheel...so I'm not sure if gear change affects speed?? The Hypertech programmer I have is simply a speedo recalibrator and it has tire size and gear ratio in it....someone else

I have heard that the reason for the gear ratio in the programmers was primarily for adjusting the shift points in the auto tranny, but I obviously don't know that for sure.
