Default ARB Bumper install

So I finally got done installing my Rubicon Express 3.5 Superflex Lift , Procomp 9005 wheels, and 34.7 Procomp Xtreme tires (pictures soon). I am about to tackle the installation of my ARB bumper. Is it really necessary to cut the crush cans from the stock bumper and install them with the ARB bumper? I am not sure what good they would do with a steel bumper and it looks to be a bit of a PIA. Any install tips?

Thanks for your input....

If you want the additional safety of the crush cans you will need to cut them off, in not then skip it. I personally opted to put then on for the safety factor. (and maybe reduce the cost of a bumper hit.)

Before you put the bumper on try all the built in nuts with a proper bolt. There is often some weld slag in them. A small screwdrive and hammer will generally knock em loose. Otherwise run a tap through the nuts.

Have a second person nearby to help lift and set the bumper. Have some "soft" locktite on hand for the bolts.

Follow the instructions, follow the instructions, follow the instructions.

Tapping the bumper bolts are a must. The powder coating in the treads will make it extremely difficult to tread the bolts. I installed a Superwinch epi 9.0 winch which did not required me to grind the left side bumper frame mount as described in the ARB instructions.

What the other folks have said, plus there are some other good tips posted in the large ARB bumper threads. A quick search should reveal the other threads.
