Default New JK Owner, Lift and Mirror Relocation Questions

Brought home my JK today, now its time to start dumping more money into it.

I have a rough country BB on the way, is anyone running a 2.5" with stock wheels? i have the 17" wheels with the 32" rubbers, are there any complications with this set up and/or how ridiculous does it look? i plan on getting new tires in the next couple months.

Also, i read that its illegal to drive completely side-view mirrorless. Do the cops pay attention to this? If the relocation brackets are a must whats a good brand to go with?

Thanks for the help! hopefully i'll be out wheeling it soon.

Congratulations on your JK! I orginally put the RC 2.5" BB on my Rubi. Found that it sat about 2" nose low because I had also put a Hard Rock bumper and PowerPlant winch on the nose. Ended up putting OME 3" coils up front to bring the nose back up to almost level.

As far as tires, I put 315/70/17's on my stock wheels. Had to add 1.5" spacers to avoid rubbing during full deflection.

There are allot of bad brands. It depends on what you're looking for. Do you just care about being legal, or do you want really good functional mirrors that don't vibrate and have good visibility? Also where do you want them. Some mount on the windshield frame which has the advantage of not messing with them again; however, when your doors are on the passenger side will not be useful. The ones that mount in the hinge mean you'll have to switch them back to the door.

As for legality every state I've been in requires at least one mirror. Some require both.

Here's a list of those I know about (in alphabetical order):
  • American Outlaw
  • DieTech Offroad
  • Lange
  • Mopar
  • Omix-Ada
  • Rugged Ridge
  • Warrior

thanks for the replies!

to be honest about the mirrors i just want to be legal. mirrors are not necessary when i can look out the open door frame ha ha. i saw one mirror that just slides into the hinge. will those keep the cops off me?

thats a nice looking rubi Jamie. i see you are a fellow northern Virginian. i work down in old town. i know this is a dumb question, but what kinda trails do we have near us?

Mirror relocation brackets are nice. I have found out that my passenger side is useless with the doors on. (as someone said earlier). Also Iam thinking snorkle sooner or later. So I elected to relocate the drivers side and keep the passenger side on the door. When I pull the doors one is good enough, legal? I feel they wont be looking that hard.

Default olympic safari mirrors

these are what i use, they vibrate some but not too bad. take your doors off and install these on your hinges. take them out when you put your doors back on.

I ran the 2.5 RC BB on my '08 X no problems looked better then stock and tires didn't look too small. I have the rugged ridge mirror brackets as well as stated before the pass side is useless with the doors on can't see 97% of the mirror. You can use them with the doors on with the mirrors on the doors as well no interference i just move mine from the door to the brackets when i take my doors off takes an extra couple Min's but it works. I have had no problem with the law in Pa running like this either.

Only problem with this is it probably isn't street legal. You are normally required to have two mirrors, one inside and one outside the vehicle.
