Default Differential fluid change at 3000 miles?

My baby was due for the 3000 mile service so I took her in yesterday. The dealer called me back and showed me the rear diff fluid and it was a little off color and he suggested changing it. I agreed and they did the front as well. I know it shouldnt need it then. The service manager told me it was nothing to be concerned with and that sometimes it happens when breaking in a new vehicle. Is he blowing smoke up my butt or do I have a problem that needs to be fixed?

Default Blowing smoke!

Nuff said. They need your money. Do it yourself at 5K miles.

I figured they probably just needed money but wanted to be on the safe side. Isnt it recommended for its first change at 18000 miles though?

They are so stupid...
the rear will be disscolored IF you have a LSD, its the additive they use to reduce friction in the clutches.
