No rear wiper on hard top?
I am yanking my wiper today, and wondered if anyone else has. I picked up the hardtop yesterday, and like it.
But I started to think....when do I ever use a rear wiper?
In my grand Cherokee and my wifes hummer, I might use it for a few seconds if I had a little fog, frost, or ice. But that's it.
So, as I have to pay quite a bit to make the wiper work, and I don't plan on using it much, and since there's a huge box blocking my view, it's coming out.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had done this.

You bring up a good point. I don't think I'll ever use mine and can barely see out the back window anyway with my spare on and that huge black box covering the wiper motor. We would need a way to plug the holes left in the glass but I know that can be accomplished with some sort of plastic plugs.
my rear wiper has not worked all winter. not like i care to much i can't see out the back that well anyways with my tire blocking my view. so i might just pop it off and get some rubber grommets and jam them into the hole. i mean it does not really matter now it's almost time to put the soft top back on. and i would like to sell the hardtop just use the soft top all year round.

If the image works, what I used is x2 washers and x2 rubber seals and a screw and nut. Painted it black to match. This is my tempory fix until I get a factory part to fill the hole.
I got the hard top for like $750. bones and never planned to hook up the windshield wipers so I removed them. Once removed you still have a base coat of paint to remove from the inside of the glass that was where the motor was (still need to remove paint). I also cut and moved my third brake light down to shine through my rims. It helped so much with visiblity out the back, for me anyways; plus it just looks better IMHO.

If it's just paint, you should be able to scrape it off the glass fairly easily using a razor blade and some Goof Off. There really isn't much that will stick to glass permanently when you use a bit of elbow grease.
