Default Black Diamond 3" Lift--will I need a Driveshaft Replacement?

I have an automatic 4 DR Rubicon with a 3" Black Diamond lift. I have been reading a lot about 3"+ lifts and torn drive shaft boots. I did a thorough search and have not found anyone with this specific issue that had the 3" BD lift. Am I looking at an eventual front drive shaft replacement with this lift? So far have only had the lift for about 700 miles and did take it off road a couple times...disconnected the sway bars, but no major flexing as of yet (but very possible in the future).

You should be fine. If you were to have any rubbing it will be at full, disco flex and it will be your ds on your transmission skid, but I doubt you will. I have your set up with a 2 1/2" (which actually gave me 3 1/4") and I haven't had any problems, even at full flex.

Default You will need a driveshaft replacement for the front

I have a TF 3" Lift with an auto and had the stock driveshaft still on. I wheeled, did some flexing (still connected) and tore up my boot. It is only a matter of time before you tear yours up. I took mine to a local reputable driveline builder and he built me a heavy duty dl for the front and installed it and warranted it for $350.

What was your actual lift height?

I have the Black Diamond 3 inch springs which gave me a full 4 inches of measured lift, and after 20k miles have settles to about 3 1/2 inches.

I ripped my front boot on a rock ledge, but it had nothingto do with the lift. You should be fine.

It really depends on the actual height gained. I think Vogeljk probably ended up with around 4" with his TF 3" kit.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Haven't measured the actual amount of lift but from what I understand the BD lift's the front a little over 4" keeping it at 3" in the middle.

I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on it and hope we are lucky and it holds out...but if not, I like the idea of having one built like vogeljk did.

My Black Diamond 3" also netted closer to 4"s...something to consider

I have the 3"BD, and tore my boot.
i run it pretty rough sometimes though.
I see that boot torn fairly often on JKs.

I still love my lift though...it comes with tons of parts to correct changes from lift.
