Default Toyo Tires 34.1 in

For the past 6 months I have been researching a tire up grade on the JK Forum site for my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2 Dr 2008. I installed a 2.5 in OME HD lift kit with adjustable tract bars, which I purchased from Northridge4X4.com. My stock BFG 255/75X17 tires and stock wheels just didn't have enough clearance. Even with the stock set up I was still making contact with the wheel well.
I considered upgrading to a 35/12.50X17 Toyo open country M/T. I found with this tire I would stuff the tire up into the wheel well real quick and bump stops wouldn't help all that much as I would lose some articulation. This tire was wide (13.2 in) and heavier (83 lbs), which I considered would place extra stress on shaft, u-joints axels ect.
I wanted a taller tire set up. ( staying in a budget ) I settled on Toyo 285/75X17, thru Discount Tire. Tire weight 71 lbs, width 11.6 in, range of wheel needed 7.5-8.0-9.5. New bump stops ( TERA FLEX) will increase approx an additional 2.5 in front, 2 in at the rear.
I purchased Pro Comp Rock Krawler 17X9 wheels. They will fit the 285/75X17 tire, and also the 35/12.50X17 for use later if I increase my lift size to a full 4 in, for the 35 in tires in the future.
Althought the 35 in tire may work well with other lift set ups simular to my lift, I believe this will be the best set up for my Rig.

That is the same result I came up with when researching tires/wheels/lift. Unless the back space is different for the rims (from stock) you will need spacers. Gears will be necessary down the road also. Mine has NO power at all. Love them Toyo's 11k miles now and very limited visual wear. I will get 20k easy out of these tires.

I hope you mean you will get more than 20k out of them, right?

I've been considering these to replace my rubi tires when they go south. One of my buddies in a local 4x4 shop claims they have the toughest sidewalls of any of the radials.

If I get more than 20k out of a mud tire I'm happy. These will easily last 20k maybe more, but by that time I'll be tired of them and it will be time for new shoes.

You might want the 35 in Toyo's tires installed on your 4 in lift. 37' will be a bit large, although you can make them work. The wheel I'm using has a 4.5 in back spaceing, along with an additional 2.5 in bump stops add to my stock stops. My understanding for the Toyo's you could get 40K miles out of them, if not more. Depends on the rocks you are crawling up on.
I'll post pictures when everything is installed. I'll even have 4 wheels spacers left over

Please do post. Would like to see this setup.

Are you contemplating a 1" BL for a little more room to stretch?

True. No need to BL if no need to BL. Looking forward to pics to see the clearance/tire tuckage. This may be the way to go!
