Default What's The Difference - aFe Air Filters

Quadratec has the "aFe Pro 7 Power Air Filter" and the "aFe Pro Dry Power Air Filter" for JKs. Aside from the $10, does anyone know what the difference is bewteen them?

Has anyone used either, and if so, what are your thoughts on them?

One is NOT the dry filter. Look in the description instead of the title, you'll see. It's a title misprint. I have the afe dry filter and like it.

i have the 7 layer one ... there is also a 5 layer ... those two are oiled

the dry one is around 3 layer if i remember correctly.

more layers = less flow = more protection however

i liked mine but got a intake instead as it will be a street vehicle mainly with deepest water i hit about a foot and a half with our constantly flooded streets...

i will be selling my 7 layer + a new oiling kit for it (filter used for 1000 miles) for 40 shipped asap ... i like the xdi intake for daily driving duties.

I have the dry filter also. It's nice because you don't have to use any formulas to clean it. You just tap or vacuum out the dirt and throw it back in.

I would sugget a K&N, the oiled filter helps keep the water out, they have been making filters for over 20 years!

I can say in all honesty I have never felt a difference in power with any other drop in filter OR CAI, and I've used a LOT of them. With the drop in afe, I actually can tell a little difference. It's not the sound either, because it's just as quiet as before. Before trying it I would have stood there if you had a gun to my head and said drop ins don't add a DAMN thing. This one does, though. I never wouldda believed it.

Which afe do you have? Oiled or dry?
