EMU suspension question
I ordered an Old Man EMU 2" coil/shock lift yesterday in light/medium load configuration. I am also installing a winch with the lift and am now wondering if anyone here has information or a suggestion on this.
I am wondering if I need the heavy load for the winch or whether the light/medium is adequate?

When I talked with Dave at Northridge about this setup, he suggested the HD springs in the front and the medium springs in the rear. He said this would account for the anticipated sag in the front associated with the added weight of an aftermarket bumper/winch.
This is what I have (from Dave) and it works great with 200ish pounds of winch/bumper (smittybilt SRC/Warn 9500 HS if anyone cares). This puts the front about 1/2 inch lower than the rear (4 door hardtop).
Rocknred,
How's the ride with this set up? My front already sits 1/2" higher than my rear with an Olympic bumper. I'm adding the winch at the same time as the lift and don't want any sag but don't want to increase any harshness on the front end either. I have a Sahara with the heay duty tow suspension so it should be the same or similar to yours stock susp.

Lots of OME lift threads to browse, but very few with the light springs that I've seen. Everyone goes for the HD's or HD/MD combo.
But, How much lift are you looking for? The HD's will give over 3" even with the extra weight of a bumper and winch up front. (I got 3 1/4 with the full rugged ridge xhd and a warn 9500) If I had it to do over, I'd get the HD rears as well, instead of the mediums. So if you actually want 2", consider the lights.
What tire are you moving to? Check the Tire/Wheel FAQ here in the modified section if you haven't already. Stock wheels with wider tires, yes you'll need spacers. Aftermarket wheels with correct BS, no you won't need spacers.
Also, if you plan on disconnecting, get extended bumpstops!!
There are a few pics in my gallery, the tires are 295/75/16's.
Good luck on the decision

Also did you install wheel spacers with the lift?

Thanks. I'm looking more for 2" as I'm not going to run larger tires. I would like 1-2 inches but I haven't found any coil/shock kits for that small amount. I will probably do spacers also to offset the increase in height with wider stance.
