Default 35's on stock rims and then aftermarket?

I have a question. I think I may be able to get a 3" lift and 35" tires but can't afford the rims i want quite yet. If I stick with a 17" aftermarket rim will the tires I get that can fit on the stock 17" rubicon rims work with all aftermarket rims as long as they are 17"?

You should be good to go. While you have those 35's on the stockers you will need some spacers to keep from rubbing though. Look at spidertrax or teraflex, both sell 1.5" spacers and both are high quality.

Cool, one more question though. The wheels I was looking at are 17x8.5 and I noticed the stocks are 17x7.5. Would the same 35" tire fit on the aftermarket 17x8.5 rim if they fit on the stock 17x7.5?

Also what's a good tire for trails, mud, and isn't too loud on the freeway, like the same loudness as the stock tires?

First question: Yes, the tire will fit both wheels with no problems.

Second question: Not so easy, there are alot of good tires out there, just search the forum and you will see. No one tire is going to be good at everything so do some research on what you want. I run the 35" Cooper STT (mud terrain) on my JK and am using it as a daily driver right now, the tires are great off road and pretty decent on road. A all terrain would be much better on road but would sacrafice alot of off road ability. So you need to decide what is right for you. A good compromise would be the Cooper ST or Mickey Thompson ATZ, both are VERY aggressive all terains.

spacers will run you just over $200... for about $100 - $200 more you can get wheels with the right offset.... just a thought
