Default Old Man EMU on JK 4-door

Well... I've lurked and asked... lurked and asked... so I decided to post my results here for anyone else who's still trying to decide.

I was down to OME and the Terraflex 2.5" coil kit. Both looked like you couldn't loose, but dang, how can you not like the yellow shocks?

My main concern was whether anything else would need to be changed. Spoke with David at Northridge and he recommended I ultimately also go with front and rear adjustable track bars and maybe bump stops, but would be OK for a while with just the coils and shocks since I don't go off-road too much.

I have to say that after the install, everything looks good and drives well. 2 days and so far so good.

One question... I read in the instructions that after 100 miles I should check everything to make sure nothing's come loose. Is it enough to make sure bolts are still tight, or should I slightly loosen and re-torque each to the recommended settings?

Added pictures of new wheels and tires...

Before

After OME lift

After Mickey Thompson Sidebiter black wheels and Toyo Open Country M/T 35" tires.

Thanks... Ralph

I ordered the OME HD set up with the JSK adj. front/rear trac bars... Yesterday!
Should be on my porch Tuesday! Can't wait.
Keep us updated as to any issues that come, if you would. Your Jeep looks great. Can't wait for mine to grow up.

Default 35's be fine

I put 33s on my 3.21 x 4 door and its fine not that big of a deal i can imagine the 4.10s with 35's won't be bad at all Go for it I love mine but always say when people say wow your tires are huge look so good yeh they arent that big knowing that everyone on here has 35's and up and im jsut like a baby compared to the real deal but with no lift and 3.21 gears i think its the best option especially nitto muds best tires i believe

Yes. I also try to do this every time the Jeep sees dirt.

Looks good. Did you use the HD springs?

How much lift did you get?

thanks for the reply

yes.. HD springs. It looks like about 3.5" of lift to me. Maybe a bit more, which I was hoping to avoid too much lift to reduce problems, but doesn't surprise me since I read plenty of posts from people getting similar results. No problems at all so far...

Did you measure before and after I doubt you got this much lift out of it.

You'd think I would do something smart like that... but no... I completely forgot.

I measured after, with just under 40 inches from the bottom of the fender to the ground, or about 9 inches from the bottom of the fender to the top of the tire. It just looks like the gap before was about 60% of the 9 inches I'm getting now... but purely unscientific.

So I checked the bolts this morning, and nothing seems loose. The more I drive it, the more I like if after the lift. Can't tell that the drive is better than stock, but it certainly isn't worse, and I like driving it a little higher.

It looks like the front axle is shifted just under 1/2" and the rear axle is just under 1". Drives just fine, but how much shift is too much that I should pull the trigger on adjustable tracbars sooner rather than later?

Thanks... Ralph

OME lift, Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels and Toyo Open Country M/T 35" tires
