Default My JK Project: On Paper

as of yet I still don't have a JK, but I'm extremely amped for getting one, and planning out the modification process already. So here's the plans, and pictures of the products (with respect to the fact this is a sponsored site I refrain from posting links to the actual products).

((I hope this site doesn't have a picture/post limit, lol, guess I'll find out soon enough))

Front bumper - mountain off road

$784

Winch- CSI 8500

489

The Lift- rocky road outfitters "The rockfather" 4 inch lift

999

Rock Sliders - rocky road outfitters

389

Fenders: Fabbing my own to the resemblance and functionality of these

Hood louvers- Rocky road outfitters

155

Engine skid plate- rocky road outfitters

299

The wheels - steel from rocky road outfitters
(see the image of the rocksliders)
525

Staun Internal Beadlocks
175 ea x 5= 875

super chips flashpaq
350

Air intake: Volant cold air
296 + 35

Jba shorty headers
500

Jba exhaust
470

Total: 6166

and I still need a rear bumper tire carrier capable of carrying the tires I still need as well.

also intend on doing other engine mod's, soon as I can get me and some friends to sit down and think on it a bit.

so, tell me what you think, if you have any suggestions for tire size for this setup, if you know of any products similar to these that are better or cheaper PLEASE let me know, lol.

and, seeing how I want to build it which JK do you think I should get? 2007 X, 2008 Rubicon, ect...

it may not seem like money is an issue, but this is going to be a 2 year project, unfortunately, so keep this in mind. I want a reliable, road able and very capable off road jeep.

all black, with a stealth military theme is sort of the idea. besides being huge powerful and loud of course,

thinking I'll go with a 4.89 ratio ring and pinion. for as large a tire as I'm going for I should go higher to maintain stock performance, but i'd like to be able to use this guy to tow stuff as well, and from what I've read the lower ratio will help with that.

Now that word is out on our incredible 4.5" Old Man Emu JK lifts
4.5" Old Man Emu JK lifts? Say it ain't so!

Sounds a bit expensive for non-beadlocked steel?

and, seeing how I want to build it which JK do you think I should get?
I didn't see your tire choice?
37" or smaller, go for a Rubi. Taller tire? Go for an X as you'll probably want to replace axles/tcase/etc.

In the lift pic, with the forklift showing flex: Is the drivers rear tire even on the ground??? Me thinks they are cheating a bit.

besides being huge powerful and loud of course
So you throwing in a Hemi also?

thinking I'll go with a 4.89 ratio ring and pinion. for as large a tire as
Again, what size tire? Manual trans and 35's, either 4.88 or 5.13.
Auto and 35's probably 5.13's. Are you going 37's or larger?

also intend on doing other engine mod's
Check other threads here for opinions on cost vs actual performance gains before deciding which to buy. Lot of folks saying they just aren't worth the money, just regear and be done with it.

I'm likely going with a 37 or 38 tire

about the wheels, thats the price for 5, and thats only if I go to 16 inch rims, for 15's its 27 dollars less per wheel

if I go with the x and try to do anything with the axles I fear I'll go a bit farther with this than is nessacary. factory lockers and eletronic sway bar should function wll enough for me (i hope!)

but I dunno for sure, thats why I ask

as for the fork lift image, this one shows all tries well enough

With a 44 up front, you may want to go with 5.38 gears. Be sure to work some axle mods into your budget also. Shafts, gussets, etc.

Got a good start on the project though!

I'm trying to figure what size tire would work best with this set up, so I don't yet know which would work best. any ideas?

dunno which transmission I want, I've only driven a stick breifly, need to test drive them to figure out for sure which I'll go with. Probably the automatic.

Well, as a place to start:

No lift with flat fenders will fit 35's.
2" lift with bumpstops or minor trimming will fit 35's

The 'actual' lift of your 4.5" kit will be what? Somewhere over 5" would be a good bet. You could easily fit 37's. (again, budget for some axle mods)

What size would be 'best' is something only you can decide though.

NO SUCH THING as an OME 4.5" kit. They are putting on a 2.5" OME kit with spacers. It says it on their site.

Old Man Emu replacement front and rear coil springs with spacers for a full 4.5" of lift. Simply put, the best riding spring on the market available.

Hmm, that flex looks pretty darn good then for a 'short coil/big spacer' lift. I take back my derision earlier...

I never said it was an OME lift that gave that much lift, I said it was a rocky road outfitters lift kit, which just so happens to utilize OME, though I never stated that.

the kit includes:
Old Man Emu replacement front and rear coil springs with spacers for a full 4.5" of lift. Simply put, the best riding spring on the market available.

HYDRO shocks. A great soft riding shock designed for the medium weight of the Wrangler. Rides like a dream onroad as opposed to other STIFF shocks.

Adj Front Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2" in lift, you must replace the front track bar to keep proper front axle alignment and handling.

Adj Rear Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2" in lift, you want to adjust the rear track bar to keep proper rear axle position and handling.

Full DOT Rubber brake lines. Stainless lines fatigue and are prone to bursting.... which is why no vehicle manufacturer EVER uses them. Our brake lines are DOT rubber and state inspector friendly. No red flags raised, 100% safe. All other kits on the market use the cheaply manufactured stainless lines. These top quality rubber DOT brake lines are a Rocky Road exclusive.

Bumpstop extensions keep your whopper tires from hitting on the body.

Rear Bar Pin Eliminators. A common problem you hear about on the JK is the rear shock mounting bar pins. They slip sideways, they make noise, or they may just pop off and unattach from the vehicle altogether. Our BPE kits eliminate this. Again, a unique feature to the Rocky Road fully engineered suspension system.

all for a grand. I figure I can't go wrong with RRO
