Default Serious steering issues after RC 4" lift....help.

So this past Friday my buddy and I spent the day installing the Rough Country 4" lift. Let me say though that this kit is very well put together and everything went it fine. (Except that pitman arm...what a PITA.) I also installed a set of Currie lower caontrol arms and set them to 23" eye to eye per WOL write up.

Anyways, I take it to get aligned the next moring and have them check everything over. It tracks just fine but the steering is very loose. I can take a right turn and then the steering wheel will be off center when I straighten out. I take a left turn and the steering wheel is off center the other way. How can I get this thing to tighten up????

after you straightened your steering wheel did you tighten the adjuster nuts back up? Have you checked the bolts at the ptman arm?

I had the guy at the alignment shop check all the steering component nuts and bolts. He said everything was fine.

For steering to be off after turning in both directions... it would seem like somethings not tight...

I will have to check it again when I get home from work tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible but I definately didn't expect it to be worse than stock.

The guy at the alignment shop said that the Johnny Joints on my CA can cause that. Is he just blowing smoke up my ass?

I was referring to the removal of the stock pitman arm. I will be checking everything again tomorrow.

yes, the pitman arm is a serious pain in the ass to get off. check to make sure you have everything tightened up. i put the kit on a few weeks ago, and didn't have any steering issues.

just something to check on, when i had mine aligned the place that did it loosened my steering stabilizer and didn't tighten it down in the correct place..... basically it ended up snapping (my jeep was 12 days old, so i knew it had to be from the alignment). This is why I do my own wrenching. Look things over really well. Something is not right.

I do however suggest you get the RC dual stabilizer. I put it on this weekend. This thing is night and day compared to stock.

There is only 1 thing that can act like that. Your track bar is lose.

Do you mean that the steering wheel is "off center" or that the wheel doesn't RETURN to center after a corner. The steering wheel not returning to center as fast after a corner is a side effect of an oversized Steering Stabilizer.
