Fuel door?
Yes.....they keep mud from getting packed in around the filler cap, which means, unless you clean it real good before you open the cap, there's a possibility of a nice chunk of mud falling down the filler tube. So the fuel doors do help. And I agree, they do look nice. They also come with locks so nobody can mess with your gas either.
I'll get one with a lock the first time someone siphons gas out of my tank... of course, that's never happened to me personally, and hopefully it won't... until then, it's one of those things that's kind of cool but far from priority...
I fitted the black Mopar one a while ago. It was my first mod and is an easy way to start. I think there's a write up somewhere - I think the trick is to take of the tail light when you fit it as this gives you access to the back)
Some of the aftermarket doors do have locks but the black Mopar one doesn't so it won't add any security - what it will do is protect the head of the filler tube from gunk and stuff.
If you just want a locking gas filler then the route I went was with a regular OEM locking gas cap which has the advantage that you can use the ignition key to open it.
In addition to keeping mud out, the door has the very useful function of preventing build up of snow and ice around the filler (if you live in or visit that sort of environment) which is actually very helpful indeed. In the stock configuration you can get a big chunk of ice frozen around the gas cap which is a real drag.

Used to have a locking gas cap on my TJ so, when gassing up, the cap was always sitting on top of the pump. Now, with the stock JK cap, I find I always drip gas on the cap when I take the nozzle out of the tube. With that MOPAR door, maybe the cap can be hung out of the way.

Well buddy, I've been in mud with my CJ w/ Terra Tires and had it litterally RAINING mud.....and it went EVERYWHERE...!!!
I've got the Rugged Ridge locking door. Have had gas siphoned out before, not from the JK but my XJ. If they have to resort to puncturing the gas tank I think they would just go to the TJ parked 30 feet behind mine and take his gas instead...
